Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know

This tour can be done year-round. October to December and April to May offer the best conditions: dry weather, accessible roads on the mainland, calm seas for boat excursions. The cyclone season (January–March) may bring more unstable conditions, particularly for maritime transfers.

Internal flights connect Antananarivo (TNR) to Nosy Be (NOS) daily, approx. 1h30. These flights are at your expense and not included in the tour price. Direct seasonal flights from Europe may be available. The tour starts and ends at Nosy Be Airport (Fascene) — our team will be waiting for you on arrival.

The fast boat crossing takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes. The sea can be choppy depending on conditions. If you are prone to motion sickness, bring appropriate medication. The Lemur Safari team accompanies you during embarkation and disembarkation.

The Red Tsingys are explored in 1h30 to 2h of hiking on marked trails, without technical climbing. Good closed-toe shoes are sufficient. The site is accessible to most travellers. It may be muddy in the rainy season. The tour includes the visit en route from Nosy Be to Diego Suarez on Day 3.

Yes, from age 8 to 10. Boat excursions to Nosy Komba, Nosy Tanikely and Nosy Iranja are particularly suitable for curious children. Hikes (3 Bays, Montagne des Français, Ankarana) are easy to moderate and can be adapted to the group’s abilities. Adaptations available on request.

Absolutely — that’s our speciality. Duration (8 to 14 days), accommodation level (standard to prestige), extension in Nosy Be or combination with other regions of Madagascar: everything is adaptable. Email us at contact@lemursafari.com for a free quote within 24h.

Consult your doctor before departure. Generally recommended: hepatitis A and B, typhoid, tetanus. Antimalarial treatment is advised for Northern Madagascar, particularly around Ankarana and Diego Suarez (risk zone). Repellent and covering clothing in the evening are essential.
