Welcome to the Lemur Safari blog. A wholly Malagasy agency based in Toamasina, we travel the island’s parks and tracks all year round and share here what our guides learn along the way, to help you plan an authentic, responsible trip.
Madagascar in brief: an island-continent where nearly 90% of the wildlife and plant life lives nowhere else on Earth. It is home to around a hundred lemur species, all endemic, and almost every one is threatened with extinction according to the IUCN. The dry season, from April to November, covers most of the country; September to December is the best window for spotting baby lemurs. Allow at least 10 to 12 days to explore one region properly, and two to three weeks to combine two.
